I have a comprehensive and long-standing secretarial background primarily supporting the legal and medical professions. Due to a period of ill health in 1989 I started to explore alternative therapies. In 1990 a GP declared (after many tests) that there was nothing wrong with me and I needed to focus my energy into Healing! Thus, I then embarked on my journey. Having explored many different so-called “therapies", it was not until I enlisted for training with the National Federation of Spiritual Healers (NFSH) that my skepticism started to disperse. With the first-class grounding and training programme they provided, I became a Full Healer.
Since 1990 I have been actively involved in setting up and supporting Healing Centres in Suffolk, Hampshire and Devon. More recently I led and encouraged a Healing group within an NHS GP surgery. I am actively involved in assisting in the training of Healers for the NFSH.
My main interest is promoting Healing alongside NHS treatment. Recently I have taken on the role of Secretary for the Doctor/Healer Network in the South West. Much of my training in this area has been with Dr Christine Page at the Middlesex Hospital. I enrolled on a fundamental counselling course, to enrich my own skills and abilities and to focus on how the professions may be integrated.
For a while I practiced as an Emotional Therapist, being a member of The Foundation of Emotional Therapy. More recently I worked with a specialist Gynaecological/Oncologist Nurse with a group of cancer patients with very positive feedback being given. Now much of my study time is devoted to widening my experience and working with a wide variety of cases. These include domestic violence and managing stress through to the care of cancer sufferers and dealing with loss and grief.
An active involvement with a NHS staff celebration day by assembling and co-ordinating a team of Complementary Therapy Practitioners also proved to be a very positive experience for staff members and their families. This led to heading a team of therapists for another staff event whereby “Holistic Therapy Taster Sessons” were given to members of staff at a hospital in North Devon in January 2006.
2007 sees me embarking on an exciting adventure assisting with nationwide National Federation of Spiritual Healers Foundation Courses 1 - 4 with National Tutor Dawn Redwood at various locations around the UK. In March 2007 I join the team of complementary therapist at my local Hospice.
